Cowgirl Equestrian Travels to Big 12 Championship
The No. 4 Oklahoma State equestrian team (6-5, 4-2) will travel to Waco, Texas for the Big 12 Championship this weekend.
Last Time Out
Oklahoma State split two weekend matchups with Baylor and Texas A&M, defeating the Bears, 11-8, in Waco and falling to the Aggies, 16-11, in College Station on March 5-6.
The Rankings
The Cowgirls remain in the fourth position in the latest Women's Intercollegiate Equestrian National Coaches Poll. All Big 12 participating schools are in the top 10, with Texas A&M sitting at No. 3, Baylor is in the sixth spot and Kansas State checks in at No. 7.
Looking For Back-To-Back Big 12 Championships
Last year Oklahoma State won the inaugural women's equestrian Big 12 Championship in Stillwater. In 2008 the Cowgirls won the Central Championships, the equivalent to a conference title.
The Bracket
OSU enters the championship with the No. 2 seed and will compete with the host school and third-seeded Baylor Bears. With a first-round victory, the Cowgirls would go head to head with the victor of No. 1 Texas A&M and No. 4 Kansas State in the championship round.
Baylor This Season
The Bears are 6-8 on the year and coming off an 11-8 defeat at the hands of the Cowgirls.
Texas A&M This Season
The Aggies are 10-4 on the year and coming off an 18-2 win over New Mexico State.
Kansas State This Season
The Wildcats are 5-7 on the year and coming off a 12-3 loss to No. 2 Auburn.
Equitation On The Flat vs. Baylor
Competing for Oklahoma State in equitation on the flat are seniors Ally Blais and Jen McLaughlin, junior Alice White and sophomore Jordan White.
Equitation Over Fences vs. Baylor
Joining Blais, Alice White and Jordan White in equitation over fences are junior Erin Prutow and freshman Ellie Sparks.
Horsemanship vs. Baylor
Senior Suzanne Randolph, junior Courtney Whitacre, sophomore and Mamie Tomlin and freshman Marissa Dalton are all set to ride for the Cowgirls in horsemanship.
Reining vs. Baylor
In reining the Cowgirls will be represented by seniors Leah Keuhn, Rachell Shobe and sophomores Caroline Daniels and Rachel Houchin.
