Gearhart Named Big 12 Player of the Week

DALLAS, Texas -- Oklahoma State third baseman Mariah Gearhart has been named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.
Gearhart had at least one hit in every game played last week as she finished with a .467 batting average (7-for-15), seven runs and three RBI. She also notched a double, a sacrifice hit and two stolen bases.
Against No. 13 California, she was 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base to help the Cowgirls earn the 3-2 upset. Gearhart is tied for first in the Big 12 with 17 runs scored on the season.
Gearhart and the Cowgirls will play their home opener on Wednesday, March 3, at 3 p.m., hosting the North Texas Mean Green (5-6).
OSU is ranked No. 24 in the USA Softball poll and 25th in the NFCA Coaches poll, released earlier today. It is the first time since the start of the 2004 season that OSU has been ranked in the polls.
