Cowboys Finish Fifth In Hawaii

KOHALA COAST, Hawaii - Oklahoma State's men's golf team carded a 1-under 287 during its final round at the Mauna Lani Invitational on Friday at Mauna Lani's North Course to finish in fifth place.
The Cowboys' 54-hole total of 871, 7-over, was one stroke off the pace of Texas for fourth place and two behind third-place Washington. Stanford won the team title at 866, which was three shots clear of runner-up Oregon.
Texas' Bobby Hudson carded a 66 during his final round to move to the top of the leaderboard at 7-under 209.
OSU junior Kevin Tway was one of two Cowboys to earn a top 10 in the squad's spring opener, finishing alone in third place. The Edmond, Okla., native carded an even-par 72 to finish at 4-under 212.
Senior Trent Whitekiller posted his second-straight 71 to finish the event at level-par 216 and tied for eighth place.
Sophomore Morgan Hoffmann fired the round of the day by a Cowboy with a 3-under 69 to move into a tie for 29th place at 221.
Redshirt freshman Sean Einhaus' 75 tied him for 44th place at 223, while sophomore Peter Uihlein tied for 85th place at 234 after closing with a 79.
The Cowboys will resume play at the Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 21.
