Cowgirls Travel to South Carolina, Auburn
The No. 4 Oklahoma State Equestrian team (4-2, 3-1) will travel to Blythewood, S.C., on Saturday to take on the fifth-ranked Gamecocks before making their way to Auburn, Ala., to battle the No. 2 Tigers on Sunday.
Snow Days
The Cowgirls were scheduled to make the trip to SEC country on January 30-31, but were unable to make their flight due to a snow storm.
Last Time Out
Oklahoma State defeated Kansas State for the second time this season on February 6 by a 17-6 count. Junior rider Jessie Brothers highlighted the Cowgirls' performance, as she received a score of 89 in equitation on the flat. The score was the highest individual score in any discipline this year for the Pokes.
The Rankings
The Cowgirls moved up one spot to No. 4 in the latest Women's Intercollegiate Equestrian National Coaches Poll that was released today. This matches Oklahoma State's highest ranking of the season. The Pokes received 76 votes in the poll, just six points behind third-ranked Texas A&M. All four Big 12 participating schools are in the top 10, with Kansas State No. 6 and Baylor No. 7.
South Carolina This Season
The Gamecocks are 4-4 on the season and coming off a 10-9 loss to the Auburn Tigers on the Gamecocks' senior day. The Western team defeated Ohio State, 8-5, in an exhibition last weekend.
Auburn This Season
The Tigers are 7-2 on the season and coming off a 10-9 victory at South Carolina.
Equitation On The Flat vs. USC
Oklahoma State will be led this weekend by senior Ally Blais. Blais is 5-1 on the season in equitation on the flat, earning MVP honors in each of her five head-to-head victories. Joining Blais on the flat will be senior Jen McLaughlin, junior Alice White and sophomores Sarah Brown and Jordan White.
Equitation Over Fences vs. USC
Blais, Alice White and Jordan White will be accompanied by juniors Hannah Beresford and Erin Prutow in equitation over fences.
Horsemanship vs. USC
Riding for the Cowgirls in Horsemanship are seniors Suzanne Randolph and Kilee Stewart, junior Courtney Whitacre, sophomores Nichole Chirico and Mamie Tomlin and freshman Marissa Dalton.
Reining vs. USC
Seniors Leah Kuehn, Rachell Shobe and Molly Tipton lead Oklahoma State in the reining category. Joining the seniors are sophomores Rachel Houchin and Caroline Daniels and freshman Christy McElreath.
Equitation On The Flat vs. Auburn
The Cowgirls will boast the same lineup with Blais, Brown, McLaughlin, Alice White and Jordan White with the addition of junior Jessie Brothers. Brothers was the high scorer for the Pokes against Kansas State, receiving an 89 on just her second ride of the season.
Equitation Over Fences vs. Auburn
Blais, Alice White and Jordan White will all ride for the fourth time on the weekend when they compete in equitation over fences on Sunday. Joining them will be juniors Hannah Beresford and Erin Prutow and freshman Ellie Sparks.
Western vs. Auburn
Oklahoma State will use the same lineup for reining and horsemanship for both shows this weekend.
