Cowgirls Knock Off Rhode Island, 94-45

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team advanced to the championship game at the UNM Thanksgiving Classic on Friday after defeating Rhode Island, 94-45 at The Pit.
The Cowgirls (5-0) controlled the contest from the opening tip, racing out to a 15-0 lead. OSU built the lead to 22 while holding the Rams (3-2) to just four points through the game's first 10 minutes.
Senior Lakyn Garrison drilled four 3-pointers en route to a 14-point half to send the Cowgirls into the locker room with a 46-19 lead. The margin marked the fourth time this season OSU has held the opposition below 20 points in the opening half.
In the second half, OSU used a 16-0 run to push the margin over 40 at 79-33.
After shooting 47 percent from the floor in the first half, the Cowgirls shot 61 percent over the final 20 minutes.
Sophomore Toni Young led a balanced offensive output, finishing with a game-high 18 points on a 7-of-8 performance from the floor.
With 17 points on the night, Garrison matched her career high set in OSU's last outing against UT Arlington.
Joining the duo in double figures was sophomore Lindsey Keller, who finished with 10 points on the night.
All 12 Cowgirls scored in the contest and all but two recorded assists on the night. Overall, OSU finished with 24 assists, while holding Rhode Island to just 16 field goals.
Defensively, the Cowgirls turned 25 Ram turnovers into 32 points.
OSU will now take on the winner of the New Mexico-San Francisco contest at 8 p.m. (CST) on Saturday.
