November 13, 2010 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
Nov. 13, 2010
PEORIA, Ill. - The Oklahoma State cross country program did what it needed to at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships Saturday, as the men's and women's programs both placed second to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Colby Lowe provided the highlight of the day, finishing the men's 10,000-meter race in first place with a time of 29:30.70.
Lowe was the one of three Cowboys to finish in the top four, as German Fernandez and Tom Farrell crossed the line in third and fourth place, respectively, to anchor the team's NCAA Championship-qualifying performance.
On the women's side, Mihaela Susa led the way again for the Cowgirls, finishing the 6,000-meter race in eighth place at the 20:22.38 mark, one of the top two times in school history.
Susa was followed by Felicity Milton, Natalja Piliusina and Victoria Fratczak in 13th, 16th and 21st place, respectively, to give the Cowgirls their first NCAA Championships team qualification since 2005. All four of those athletes finished in less than 21 minutes.
The OSU cross country program wraps up the 2010 season Monday, Nov. 22, in Terre Haute, Ind., as it competes at the 2010 NCAA Championships. The Cowboys will try to defend their 2009 national team title and give Oklahoma State its 50th NCAA team championship in school history.
