Former Cowgirl Leads Thunder to Title

Shanel Scott owns the school record for season and career stolen bases.

Former OSU softball player Shanel Scott and her National Pro Fastpitch team, the Rockford Thunder, are celebrating after winning a national championship in August.

Scott, a native of Enid, Okla., went 2-for-3 in the final game against the USSA Pride, including opening the game with a single and eventually scoring on a sacrifice bunt. The Thunder won 2-0 and the winning pitcher was former Olympian and Texas Longhorn, Cat Osterman.

Scott finished her third professional season with a .231 batting average, two doubles, two triples, 16 stolen bases and eight runs batted in.

Scott played for Oklahoma State from 2004-07 and holds the record for career starts (222), stolen bases (108), bases on balls (92) and runs scored (56).
