Stillwater, Okla. -
The Oklahoma State softball team will host a doubleheader against Oklahoma Christian on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium. OSU will play four doubleheaders in Stillwater during the fall exhibition season, once a week for the next four weeks.
The Cowgirls are coming off a 36-22 season when they made their first NCAA Regional appearance in four years. They are returning every starter from last year's squad, including two pitchers who combined for 34 of the teams victories. After losing only three seniors, they are an experienced team with five seniors and five juniors. Last season as a team, OSU batted .270 and had an overall fielding percentage of .973.
Two Cowgirls – Mariah Gearhart and Alysia Hamilton -- were named first-team All-Midwest Region, while three – Gearhart, Sam Heinlein and Julie Ward -- were named All-Big 12 Second Team.
Oklahoma State also welcomes five newcomers to the squad this season, including high school All-American Katie Asher.
