RICHMOND, Va. - For the second consecutive week, former Oklahoma State golf standout Pernilla Lindberg earned a top-five finish on the Duramed Futures Tour, tying for second place at the Impact Classic at Richmond Country Club.
Lindberg fired a 7-under 65 during her first round and followed with a 71 on Saturday to carry a one-stroke lead into the final round at the 6,278-yard layout. The Bollnäs, Sweden native closed with a 73 to finish at 7-under 209 and tied with Song Yi Choi and Gerina Mendoza for second place.
Lisa Meldrum fired a final round 67 to finish at 208 and move from a tie for ninth to the top of the leaderboard.
Lindberg opened with three consecutive pars before posting a bogey at the fourth. After a birdie at the fifth, the former Cowgirl All-American carded a double-bogey six two holes later before closing out her front nine with the second of her four birdies on the day.
Lindberg got back to even par with a birdie at the par-5 12th before moving back to 1-over par with a bogey at the 13th. After a bogey at the 16th, Lindberg used a birdie-par finish to finish at even-par 36 on her inward nine and climb into second place.
With her finish, Lindberg vaulted from 17th to 10th on the Tour's money list in just eight starts. She is the only player in the top 10 to make fewer than 14 starts. In those eight starts, Lindberg has finished in the top 10 five times, including a tie for third at last week's Falls Auto Group Classic and her runner-up showing this weekend.
