Stillwater, Okla. -- A pair of future members of the Oklahoma State softball team have received outstanding honors for their on-field abilities during their respective senior seasons.
Katie Asher, a graduate of Canyon Del Oro High School in Tucson, Ariz., was recently named to the 2009 EA Sports All-American second team. It was her second-consecutive honor as she was named an NFCA second-team All-American as a junior. She led her team to a 34-2 record, a third-straight Class 4A state title, and a No. 2 national ranking according to the ESPN RISE FAB 50.
Kat Espinosa, a graduate of Bellaire High School in the Houston area, was named the All-Greater Houston Pitcher of the Year by the Houston Chronicle. Also the Most Valuable Player of District 20-5A, Espinosa led the Cardinals to the Class 5A Region III semifinals and was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star game.
Asher and Espinosa will join the Cowgirl squad this fall, along with in-state players Aaron Adams (Harrah, Okla.), Amy Graham (Hominy, Okla.) and Taylor Smith (Newcastle, Okla.).
