Cowgirl Softballers Garner Postseason Awards

The Big 12 Conference office handed out its annual postseason awards here Friday night, and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls were well represented. Three Cowgirls received All-Big 12 Second-Team Accolades while six OSU players were named to the academic all-conference squad.
Junior catcher Sam Heinlein, sophomore third-baseman Mariah Gearhart and freshman first-baseman Julie Ward were all named All-Big 12 Second Team. Heinlein batted a team-high .357 during Big 12 Conference play. Gearhart led all Cowgirls with 11 runs scored in league games, while Ward had a team-high 13 runs batted in during conference play.
Senior Heather Kim, junior Megan Castle and sophomore Sarah Odom were named Academic All-Big 12 First Team. Second-team accolades went to Heinlein, Gearhart, and senior Kati Phillips.
