STILLWATER, Okla. - Six members of the Oklahoma State women's track and field team will head to Norman, Okla., Saturday to compete in the Sooner Twilight, held at the University of Oklahoma's John Jacobs Track and Field Complex.
With only one weekend of competition remaining before the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Lubbock, Texas, the meet serves as a chance for several Cowgirls to hit NCAA regional qualifying marks before the season ends.
Clarissa Andrews is the lone Cowgirl competing in both the triple and long jumps. Andrews has leapt 5.82 meters in the long jump twice this season, but has yet to hit the regional mark of 6.00 meters. She also jumped a personal-best 12.49 meters in the triple jump earlier this season, easily beating the regional mark of 12.32 meters, but the jump did not count toward regional qualification due to the wind speed.
The other five Cowgirls will compete on the track, including Kristen Gillespie and Brandi Andrews in the 800 meters, Teran Mixon and Courtney Schultz in the 1,500 meters and Kendra Woodson in the 400-meter hurdles. All five athletes have come within seconds of regional qualification in their respective events, but none have hit the mark.
The Sooner Twilight is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the javelin throw and conclude with the 4x400-meter relay at 4:55 p.m.
