Oklahoma State had a pair of softball players named to the all-region team, it was announced today by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Sophomores Mariah Gearhart and Alysia Hamilton were both recognized by the NFCA on the All-Midwest Region first team.
Gearhart is batting a team-high .350 this season and leads the squad in runs (45), hits (57), stolen bases (31-of-33) and on-base percentage (.467). The Cowgirl leadoff hitter has started all 54 games this season at third base.
Hamilton is second on the team with her .344 batting average. She is also second in hits (52), runs scored (23), home runs (4) and on-base percentage (.443). The Moore, Okla., native leads Oklahoma State with 46 runs batted in. Hamilton was named second-team all-region last year as a freshman and has started the last 105 games at second base.
Gearhart, Hamilton and the rest of the Cowgirls face 16th-ranked Florida State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. CT in Tallahassee, Fla.
