Gougler Hits Regional Mark at Sooner Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma State women's track and field team competed at the Sooner Invitational Saturday, highlighted by the addition of another NCAA regional discus throw qualifier in Courtney Gougler.
Gougler's season-best discus toss of 47.90 meters was enough for a seventh place finish and was 0.60 meters better than the regional mark of 47.30 meters.
Merritt Dietz also had a season-best day in the discus throw, reaching a mark of 54.05 meters and finishing in second place.
The Cowgirls competed in several running events, including the 200, 400, 800, 1,500 and 3,000 meters, as well as the 100- and 400-meter hurdles.
A pair of fourth-place finishes from Brandi Andrews, who ran the 800 meters in 2:16.27, and Courtney Schultz, who ran the 1,500 meters in 4:50.25, highlighted the running events. It was Schultz's first 1,500-meter race in a Cowgirl uniform.
Tihana Sarac also continued her heptathlon training at the meet, finishing 10th in the 100-meter hurdles and 13th in the long jump.
The Cowgirls return to action on May 9, when they travel to Manhattan, Kan., for the Ward Haylett Invitational.
