Cowgirl Softball Hosts 25th-ranked Texas

The series was originally scheduled as two separate games on Saturday and Sunday. However, due to forecasted inclement weather, the teams have agreed to play a doubleheader on Saturday.
Oklahoma State is 30-17 overall this season and 5-8 in Big 12 Conference action, currently sitting in seventh place in the league standings. The Cowgirls are coming off a 4-2 win over Missouri State on Thursday evening.
OSU is led offensively by the sophomore duo of Alysia Hamilton and Mariah Gearhart. Hamilton, a Moore, Okla., native, is batting .348 this season and leads the team with 45 runs batted in. Gearhart, the leadoff hitter and third baseman, is batting .340 with a team high 42 runs scored and league-leading 29 stolen bases.
In the circle for the Cowgirls, lefthanded pitcher Sarah Odom is 13-4 this season with a 2.14 earned run average. Righty Anna Whiddon is 15-11 overall with a 2.27 ERA.
The Longhorns are 34-15 overall and 10-5 in conference play, currently tied for third in the Big 12 standings. UT senior Desiree Williams leads the team with 42 runs and 10 home runs. Loryn Johson leads all Longhorns with her .427 batting average and a team-high 43 RBIs. Brittany Barnhill is Texas' primary pitcher with a 22-10 record in 36 starts and a 2.58 earned run average.
Following this weekend, OSU has three more regularly scheduled games. Bedlam-rival Oklahoma comes to town on Wednesday, April 29, for a 7 p.m. game, and Texas Tech visits Stillwater next weekend, May 2-3.
