OSU Golfers Named To Academic All-Conference Squad

IRVING, TexasÂOklahoma State had six representatives on the Academic All-Big 12 Golf Teams it was announced by the league office today. Three members from both the men's and women's squads were honored for their work in the classroom.
Leading the way was Cowgirl senior Karin Kinnerud, who was one of just four student-athletes among the 81 honored with a 4.0 grade point average. The selection marked the third time the Norrköping, Sweden, native has been named to the squad during her career.
Joining Kinnerud on the women's first team were seniors Amanda Johnson and Pernilla Lindberg. The duo also appeared on the squad for the third time as well.
On the men's side, sophomore Rickie Fowler was named to the first team, while senior Trent Leon and sophomore Kevin Tway were second-team picks. The selection was the first for both Fowler and Tway, while Leon was chosen for the third time in his career.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the men's golf academic all-league squad consisted of 25 first team members combined with 11 on the second team, while the women had 36 first team recipients and nine student-athletes on the second team. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
