IRVING, Texas  The Oklahoma State women's tennis team will open Big 12 Championship play as the No. 6 seed, the league office announced Sunday. The tournament begins Thursday at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla.
The Cowgirls (12-11, 5-6 Big 12) will open play against No. 11 seed Iowa State on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. OSU downed the Cyclones 5-2 on April 4. The winner of the first round matchup will meet No. 3 seed Texas A&M in the championship quarterfinals.
OSU has won one league tournament title in its history. That win came in 2003. Texas has won seven tournament titles, including the first six in conference history. Top-seeded Baylor is the three-time defending champion, while Texas A&M has one league tournament championship.
The Nos. 4 and 5 seeds will be determined Tuesday after Colorado makes up a match against Baylor and Nebraska makes up its match against Texas Tech.
