Vail Hits Regional Mark at John McDonnell Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Â The Oklahoma State men's track and field team ran well in two events Saturday at the John McDonnell Invitational, including an NCAA regional qualifying time from Ryan Vail in the 1,500 meters.
Vail, competing in the event for the first time this season, finished in third place with a time of 3:46.06, which is more than a second better than the regional mark of 3:47.80.
In addition to Vail, five Oklahoma State runners finished the 1,500 meters is less than four minutes, including Sean Fleming, Colby Lowe, David Chirchir, Alex Ruiz and Matt Barnes-Smith.
The 400 meters was the other Cowboy event of the day, where Mitchel Rolfes finished with a season-best time of 51.27.
The Cowboys also competed in the 5,000 meters Friday night, where Tucker Weems, running the event for the first time this season, finished with a time of 15:16.45.
Oklahoma State returns to action next weekend, when the Cowboys travel to Berkeley, Calif., for the Brutus Hamilton Invitational and to Eugene, Ore., for the Oregon Invitational.
