Cowgirl Softball drops series to 11th-ranked Missouri, 6-1
April 11, 2009 | Cowgirl Softball
The league-leading Tigers (36-5, 8-2 Big 12) scored six runs on five hits, including a two-run home run by Megan Christopher in the top of the seventh. By then, Missouri had all but secured the victory.
Oklahoma State (28-14, 4-6) scored its lone run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out, Kelsey Anchors hit a high fly ball to the warning track in left field. Miscommunication led to a scrambling attempt at the ball by leftfielder Gina Schneider. The ball dropped fair and Anchors stood on second base with a double. One out later, Katelyn Bright hit a drive to left field, scoring Anchors. It was Bright's second hit of the day.
The Tigers added two runs in the fourth to make the score 4-0. Schneider hit a two-run double, scoring Michaele and Abby Vock.
Oklahoma State will travel to Norman, Okla., on Wednesday, April 15, for game one of Bedlam against the Oklahoma Sooners. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
