Cowgirl Softball Hosts Mizuno Classic

The Cowgirls are entering the weekend 12-4 and are coming off a dramatic 4-2 win against Wichita State. Katelyn Bright and Alysia Hamilton are leading OSU in hits with 17 and Julie Ward has a team-leading 15 runs batted in. Sarah Odom continues to lead the pitching staff with a 6-1 record, a 1.56 earned run average and 50 strikeouts.
The Arkansas Razorbacks are 9-7 this season and are being led by pitcher Miranda Dixon who is 5-2 with a 2.89 ERA, has thrown three complete games and has 41 strikeouts on the season. The Cowgirls are 3-5 all time against the Razorbacks, including an 0-3 record last season.
The Cleveland State Vikings are entering this weekend 4-5 and are being led offensively by Mimi Mahon who is batting .423 with 11 hits in 26 at-bats, including four doubles and a triple. This will be the first time the Cowgirls and the Vikings have played each other.
The Drake Bulldogs are coming into the tournament with a 10-5 record. They are being led offensively by junior Elena Leon who has 17 hits, including four home runs, one triple and five doubles, and 10 RBIs. OSU is 4-1 all time against Drake, including two meetings in 2007 when the Cowgirls went 1-1.
The Northern Colorado Bears are 5-12 coming into the tournament are being led offensively by junior Jessica McNabb who has had 18 hits, including two home runs, a triple and a double. The Cowgirls have an all-time record of 3-0 against the Bears and last played them in 1984.
The Mizuno Classic will begin at 11 a.m. Friday morning with Northern Colorado playing Drake. The Cowgirls' first game of the weekend will be Friday evening at 7 p.m. when they face Cleveland State.
