Academic Services for Student-Athletes provides academic, personal, and career support programs that foster the total development of student-athletes. A comprehensive program on life skills provides student-athletes with educational experiences. Service programs preparing students for the demands of a well-balanced lifestyle are also provided. Academic Services for Student-Athletes offers the guidance and direction needed to prepare student-athletes for success beyond graduation.
Academic support at OSU begins with a multi-faceted program that involves subject tutors, facilitators, learning groups, computer programs, and academic enhancement contracts. The Joe & Connie Mitchell Academic Enhancement Center for Student-Athletes includes a comprehensive learning center which includes a Reading & Writing Center, Math Center, Foreign Language Center, and Assistive Technology Center.
Recent Individual Award Winners
- Yolanda Odenyo (Women's Soccer) was the recipient of the 2008-2009 Outstanding Seniors Award from the OSU Alumni Association. This award recognizes students who distinguish themselves through academic achievement; campus and community activities; academic, athletic, or extra-curricular honors or awards; scholarships; and work ethic during their time at Oklahoma State University.
- Megan Byford (Women's Basketball), Seb Clements (Football), Yolanda Odenyo (Women's Soccer) and Jacqueline Roberts (Women's Equestrian) earned OSU Alumni Association Seniors of Significance awards for 2009. The four represent an OSU student-athlete record for recipients for this award in one year.
- Ryan Vail (Men's Track/Cross Country) earned the Les Martin Endowed Graduate fellowship in International Studies. Ryan was the first OSU student-athlete to win this prestigious scholarship.
Other Recent Highlights
- OSU sports earning All-Academic team honors in 2008: Men's Track, Wrestling, Women's Soccer, Women's Softball, and Women's Track.
- OSU had 220 student-athletes earn Big XII Commisioner's Honor Roll (3.0 or above) in the spring of 2008 and 228 for the fall of 2008.
- OSU Wrestling led all sports with 42 Academic All-Americans/Scholar-Athletes. Since 2000, OSU Wrestling is tied for second in the nation behind Central Michigan (26) with 24 National Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-Americans.
- OSU Wrestling has also led the conference in Academic All-Big XII selections the past eight years and has been ranked as an All-Academic Team by the NWCA the past five years.
- OSU Women's Softball led all women's sports with 40 Academic All-American/Scholar-Athletes.
