Cowgirls Sweep Jayhawks with a 6-2 Victory

Mariah Gearhart and Katelyn Bright picked up consecutive walks to start the first inning for the Cowgirls and after two illegal pitches by KU's Sarah Vertelka, Gearhart scored and Bright ended up on third. Vertelka was then pulled from the game and replaced with Val George. Two batters later, Castle stepped up and hit the left foul pole for a two-run home run.
OSU (25-6, 2-0) scored two more runs in the third as Alysia Hamilton reached first after being hit by a pitch. Ward followed
The Jayhawks (10-16, 0-2) put a couple runs on the board in the fifth inning as Amanda Jobe hit in a run and was followed by Liz Kocon who hit the ball up the middle to score another. The Cowgirls left-hander Odom started in the circle but came out after both KU runs were scored. Junior Anna Whiddon came in and got the final out of the inning.
