Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team hammered out 14 hits en route to an 8-0 run-rule victory over New Mexico here Sunday afternoon in the only game played in the series. Cowgirl pitcher Anna Whiddon had a no-hitter through five innings, but gave up two hits in the final inning of her third complete-game shutout of the season.

Oklahoma State scored six runs in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Mariah Gearhart led off the inning with a bunt single, but was thrown out attempting to steal second. Katelyn Bright hit a double and with two outs, scored on a base hit by Megan Castle. Freshman Julie Ward followed with a double and both scored on a base hit to left field by Sam Heinlein.

After a walk issued to Chelsea Garcia, freshman Kelsey Anchors hit a drive into right field, scoring both Heinlein and Garcia. Lobo Shenise Cox misplayed the ball, allowing Anchors to reach third. She then scored on a wild pitch.

OSU scored another run in the second inning when Gearhart was hit by a pitch to lead off the ining and scored on a base hit up the middle by Alysia Hamilton. The Cowgirls scored the game-ending run in the bottom of the sixth on three-consecutive base hits by Bright, Hamilton and Castle.

Oklahoma State (11-4) will travel to Wichita, Kan., on Wednesday, March 4, to face the Wichita State Shockers. Game time is set for 6 p.m. The Cowgirls will host the Mizuno Classic next weekend at the Cowgirl Softball Complex.
