STILLWATER, Okla. (OSU Athletics ) Â The Oklahoma State softball team will host the Northern Iowa Panthers Thursday at 7 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium. The Cowgirls (22-6) are coming off a 2-1 victory over Missouri State and the Panthers (17-5) are facing Oklahoma in Norman on Wednesday evening.
OSU is being led offensively by sophomores Alysia Hamilton and Mariah Gearhart who are batting .368 and .363 respectively. Hamilton leads the team in hits with 32, runs batted in with 35 and is batting .444 with runners in scoring position. Gearhart leads the team in runs scored with 28, triples with three, stolen bases with 21 and an on-base percentage of .505.
Oklahoma State's pitching staff has a combined earned run average of 1.56 with every pitcher's ERA under 2.00. Junior Anna Whiddon continues to lead in the circle with an 11-4 record, nine compete games, seven shutouts and 90 strikeouts.
The Panthers are being led offensively by junior Megan Machovec who is batting .451 with 37 hits, including five doubles, three triples, one home run and seven RBIs. Junior Jen Larsen leads the UNI pitching staff with a record of 8-2, a 1.37 ERA, eight complete games and 29 strikeouts. The Panthers are coming into Oklahoma off a three-game sweep of Missouri State this past weekend.
