Cowgirl Golf Finishes In Third Place At UCF Challenge

SORRENTO, Fla. ÂOklahoma State's women's golf team carded its second sub-par round in three days at the UCF Challenge on Tuesday, closing with a 2-under 286 to finish in third place at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.
The Cowgirls tallied a 54-hole total of 861, 3-under, and were one of just three teams to finish under par, joining UCLA and Arizona State in red figures at the par-72, 6,301-yard layout. The Bruins took home top honors after carding an 850 total, while ASU finished seven strokes back at 857.
Stephanie Kono made it a clean sweep for UCLA after firing a 66 during her final round to finish at 8-under 208 and one shot ahead of Florida's Jessica Yadloczky for medalist honors.
Freshman Caroline Hedwall posted the best finish by a Cowgirl, tying for sixth place at 213. Hedwall closed play with an even-par 72 and has now finished in the top 10 in each of her last three outings.
Hedwall was joined in the top 20 by a pair of Cowgirls as senior Pernilla Lindberg tied for 14th place and freshman Caroline Masson tied for 19th place.
Lindberg turned in her second consecutive 73 to finish at 1-under 215, while Masson moved up 10 spots after recording the squad's low round of the day, a 2-under 70, to finish at 216.
Senior Karin Kinnerud tied for 37th place at 220 after finishing with a 74.
Fellow senior Amanda Johnson finished under par for the first time in the event with a 1-under 71 to move up 10 spots into a tie for 49th place at 231.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on March 27 when they begin play at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga.
