Cowgirl Tennis Moves Saturday's Match To Stillwater
February 04, 2009 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER, Okla.ÂThe Oklahoma State women's tennis team plans to open the outdoor season Saturday in Stillwater at the DeBois Tennis Complex against Eastern Michigan at 12 p.m.
The match was originally scheduled to be played indoors in Edmond at Oak Tree Country Club. But with temperatures forecast to be near 70 degrees, OSU coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski made the decision to play outdoors in Stillwater. If inclement weather or colder temperatures threaten by Saturday, the match will be played in Edmond at 2 p.m.
The Cowgirls (0-2) traveled to Florida last weekend to compete in the ITA National Indoor Kick-Off Weekend. OSU lost a 4-0 match to the No. 7 Gators on Saturday; a match Lubicz-Majewski said was much closer than the final score indicated. The Cowgirls then fell to South Alabama 4-3 on Sunday. Eastern Michigan is 2-2, but has a match with Wichita State on Friday.
This season's Cowgirl roster features only one senior and one junior. Three freshmen and two sophomores round out the roster. Freshmen Alisa Buslaieva and Iryna Khatsko played last weekend in the Kick-Off Weekend as did sophomores Jo-Anne Karaitiana and Oleksandra Belova.
