No. 5 Cowgirls Saddle Up to Take on Wildcats

The Oklahoma State Equestrian team will host Kansas State on Saturday in a battle of Top 10 teams beginning at 10 a.m. at the Animal Science Arena in Stillwater.
Saturday's match will be a back-to-back battle between the two teams. Just before the winter break, the Cowgirls defeated the Wildcats, 13-7, in the last Big 12 matchup for either team.
The Cowgirls (4-2) have settled in at No. 5 in the national coaches poll behind Big 12 foes Texas A&M and Baylor, while Kansas State (3-4) finds itself at No. 9..
In the first portion of the season, the Cowgirls compiled a 2-1 mark in Big 12 play after capturing wins over Baylor and the last time out against Kansas State.
In the Cowgirls win over K-State in November in Manhattan, OSU dominated the Western portion of the show, 7-1. In the horsemanship discipline, the Cowgirls ran away with a 4-1 victory. In Saturday's show, the Cowgirls who will be showing in the category are seniors Jordan Pickelman and Leigha Stevenson, juniors Suzanne Randolph and Kilee Stewart, sophomores Courtney Whitacre, Margaux Tucker and Lauren Olson, and freshmen Nichole Chirico and Mamie Tomlin. Whitacre has captured two MVPs this season while maintaining a 4-0 record, while Pickelman is 5-0 with an MVP this season.
In the first matchup between the Cowgirls and the Wildcats, OSU won the reining battle, 3-2. This time around, senior Jacque Roberts, juniors Rachell Shobe, Molly Tipton and Leah Kuehn, sophomore Bri Parnell and freshmen Caroline Daniels and Amanda Neujahr will be showing. Kuehn and Parnell have combined for a 9-0 record and two MVPs this season.
The Cowgirls defeated Kansas State by a 6-4 margin in the English portion of the November show. This time out, the Cowgirls will try and keep their streak alive with senior Jaclyn Osterstock, junior Ally Blais, sophomores Erin Prutow and Alice White and freshmen Taryn Nolte, Kaila Nix and Jordan White showing in the equitation over fences discipline. Blais holds a 5-1 record while recording an MVP in the first part of the season for the Cowgirls.
In equitation on the flat, the Cowgirls dominated the Wildcats, 4-1, in their previous meeting. This time around the Cowgirls will show seniors Charlotte Collingsworth, Sam Collingsworth and Sarah Summers, Ally Blais, Jen McLaughlin and Jessica O'Donnell, and freshmen Sarah Brown and Jordan White. Summers is undefeated on the season with two MVPs, while Blais, C. Collingsworth, and S. Collingsworth have just one loss apiece.
