OSU Softball Faces New Mexico in Home Opener

STILLWATER, Okla. Â— The Cowgirl softball team will play a three-game series against New Mexico this weekend beginning on Friday at 7 p.m. Oklahoma State is coming off two wins against North Texas on Wednesday and is 10-4 on the season.

Sam Heinlein went 4-for-7 in the double-header against North Texas with a home run and four RBIs. She now has 12 hits and nine RBIs on the season and is leading the team with a .387 batting average. Sophomore Sarah Odom continues to lead the pitching staff with a 1.79 ERA, 44 strikeouts and only eight walks.

The Lobos are 6-7 and are coming off an 11-8 win over Texas Tech on Sunday. They are batting .301 as a team and are being led by senior Samantha Hughes who is batting .372 with 16 hits, including five double and three home runs, and 11 RBIs.

Oklahoma State will play Friday at 7p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Because this is the home opener for the season, admission this weekend is free.
