PUERTO PENASCO, Mexico ÂOklahoma State's women's golf team carded a 296 during its third round on Tuesday to finish in sole possession of fourth place at the Wildcat Invitational at the Nicklaus Legacy Course.
The Cowgirls tallied a 24-over total of 888 to come in 10 shots behind runners-up Arizona State and Southern California. UCLA took the team title after finishing with a 5-over total of 869.
A pair of players shared medalist honors as New Mexico's Jodi Ewart and USC's Lizette Salas each came in at 3-under 213.
OSU freshman Caroline Hedwall continued her charge up the leaderboard and finished just one shot off the leaders' pace. Hedwall shared third place with ASU's Carlota Ciganda after carding her second consecutive 70 to end play as one of just five players under par at the par-72, 6,146-yard layout. With her third-place showing, the Cowgirl rookie has now finished in the top five in three of her five career starts, including a victory at the Duramed Fall Preview in her collegiate debut.
Senior Pernilla Lindberg posted her low round of the event with a 1-over 73 to earn a top-20 finish, tying three other players for 18th place at 222.
Freshman Caroline Masson carded a closing 77 to finish at 226 and tied for 28th, while senior Amanda Johnson carded a 77 of her own to finish tied for 42nd place at 231.
Senior Karin Kinnerud tied for 59th place with a 235 total after finishing with a 76 on Tuesday.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on March 8 when they begin play at the UCF Challenge in Sorrento, Fla.
