Cowgirl Tennis Loses Heartbreaker To Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. Â The Oklahoma State women's tennis team won the doubles point to start the match, but Tulsa proved its No. 33 ranking by capturing wins in four of the six singles matches in dramatic fashion.
With the score tied at 3, the match came down to No. 1 singles.
The Cowgirls got out to a strong start by winning the doubles point. OSU freshmen Alisa Buslaieva and Iryna Khatsko scored an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles to clinch the point for the Cowgirls. Karaitiana and Nataliya Shatkovskaya also won at No. 3 singles.
“After we won the doubles, I thought we had every thing going our way,” OSU coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. “You can't blame the girls because they played hard. It's a heartbreaking match.”
OSU was able to pick up only two wins in singles. Shatkovskaya won 6-4, 6-2 over Jie Zing at No. 2 singles and Khatsko downed Tulsa's Caroline Beaulieu 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
“We played a good match,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “Congratulations to TU, they put a lot of heart into it and you have to give them credit. Sometimes it takes a few heartbreaking matches to earn confidence from playing good teams.”
