February 15, 2009 | Cowgirl Tennis
TULSA, Okla. -- The Oklahoma State women's tennis team swept the six singles matches for a 6-1 win over Louisville on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Cowgirl senior Maryna Tkachenko picked up a big win at No. 3 singles over Lauren Imre 4-6, 6-2, 7-6. She made the move to No. 3 singles after competing at No. 4 singles in previous matches.
"Maryna played very well today," Cowgirl coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. "The girl she beat is the former No. 1 player for Louisville."
Three of the singles matches went to three sets. Along with Tkachenko, Olexsandra Belova won 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 4 singles and Iryna Khatsko won 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
Louisville picked up its only point in doubles competition. Belova and Tkachenko won the lone match for the Cowgirls at No. 3 doubles.
"I'm happy with the way they played today," Lubicz-Majewski said. "The more they play, the more routine it gets."
Oklahoma State (2-3) returns to action on Feb. 21 against Indiana State in Tulsa.
