2010 Cowgirl Softball Schedule
Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team will play 17 teams that made the NCAA Tournament a year ago, highlighting the 2010 OSU's schedule announced today by head coach Rich Wieligman.
The Cowgirls are slated to play a total of 24 games against those 17 opponents this season, including defending national champion Washington in the Cathedral City Classic in late February. OSU will also play Michigan, which advanced to the Women's College World Series last season, in the LSU Tiger Classic.
Oklahoma State will open the spring season the weekend of Feb. 12-14 as the Cowgirls compete in the CenturyLink Classic in San Marcos, Texas. OSU will play host school Texas State twice in the tournament. The Bobcats were an NCAA participant last year.
The Cowgirls will then compete in the LSU Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, La., where they will play Michigan, LSU and Virginia.
Oklahoma State will play its first home game of the season on Feb. 23, hosting North Texas at Cowgirl Stadium.
A trip to Palm Springs, Calif., where OSU will play in the Cathedral City Classic will be the toughest non-conference portion of the schedule as the Cowgirls play Cal State Fullerton, the Cal Golden Bears and the Washington Huskies, all NCAA Tournament teams last season. OSU will also play Hawaii and BYU in Palm Springs.
Oklahoma State will play 10 home games in a span of two weeks in early March. The Cowgirls will co-host the OSU/OU Showcase the weekend of March 5-7. Playing Louisville and Nevada in Stillwater on Friday and Sunday and facing Nevada and Oklahoma on Saturday at ASA/Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
The Cowgirls will host Tulsa on March 9 before hosting the Mizuno Classic March 12-14 at Cowgirl Stadium. The field includes Wisconsin, Rutgers and Prairie View A&M. OSU will conclude the home stretch with a pair of games against Northern Iowa.
A trip to Tampa, Fla., will see the Cowgirls compete in the USF-The Game Tournament. OSU will face Maryland, Dartmouth, Florida Gulf Coast, South Florida and Illinois the weekend of March 19-21.
Oklahoma State begins Big 12 Conference play by hosting Baylor on March 27-28 in Stillwater. Other league home series are against Iowa State (April 10-11), Nebraska (May 1-2) and Texas A&M (May 8-9). OSU will travel to play Missouri (April 2-3), Kansas (April 17-18), Texas Tech (April 22) and Texas (April 24-25).
The annual Bedlam series will take place in Stillwater on April 7 and in Norman on April 28. OSU and OU will also play a non-conference game in Oklahoma City on March 6 as part of the OSU/OU Showcase.
