MANHATTAN, Kan. – Oklahoma State's Cowgirl track and field team kicked off its indoor season today with nine runners competing in nine events at Kansas State's KSU All-Comers.
Freshmen Jessica Coleman, Alexis Alexander, Jessica Murphy, Mykka Jaspar and Alyssa Henrichs saw their first action in Cowgirl uniforms.
Katie Hamilton was the highest finisher for the Cowgirls, turning in a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.53 meters.
OSU's jumpers were the busiest Cowgirls on the day, each competing in three events. Coleman competed in the long jump, high jump and the 60-meter dash. Murphy ran in the 60-meter dash and 300-yard run, while also jumping in the long jump. Junior Clarissa Andrews jumped in the triple jump and long jump and took to the track in the 60-meter dash.
The Cowgirls were well-represented in the weight throw with senior Julie Rader, Jaspar and Henrichs each competing for throws coach John Baumann.
After finishing her cross country season in November, distance runner Brandi Andrews began her indoor season with a 3:09.03 in the 1000-meter run.
