IRVING, Texas - Oklahoma State swept the Big 12's golfer of the month honors for September as sophomores Peter Uihlein and Caroline Hedwall were both selected for the first time.
Uihlein earned his second career victory at the Ping/Golfweek Invitational with a five-under 211 total. His effort helped the Cowboys capture a 22-shot victory at that event. He also tied for 14th at the Olympia Fields event despite battling the flu. The Orlando, Fla., native opened the month with a 4-0 record at the Walker Cup to help the Americans defeat the Great Britain and Ireland squad.
Uihlein is currently ranked fourth in the nation by Golfweek.
Hedwall earned her second career victory in the season opener at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, firing rounds of 68,72 and 67 for a nine-under 207 total. Her five-shot victory led the Cowgirls to a fifth-place team finish.
Hedwall turned in a two-under total of 142 at the rain-shortened Mason Rudolph, including two rounds of 71. Her stroke average through the two events was 69.80.
