IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State senior John Kosgei has been named the Big 12 Cross Country Runner of the Week; it was announced by the league office today.
The Cowboy standout from Eldoret, Kenya earned the honor after a third-place showing out of 245 runners at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater on Saturday. He was the top-finishing OSU runner with a time of 23:53.60 on the 8,000 meter course.
Kosgei was an All-American in 2008 with a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championships and turned in All-Big 12 and All-Midwest Region performances as well in that year. He is in just his second year of competition from the Cowboys after transferring from Louisiana State before the 2008 cross country season.
