STILLWATER, Okla.-- The Oklahoma State equestrian team (1-0) travels to Las Cruces, New Mexico (0-1) to take on the New Mexico State Aggies at the NM State Equestrian Center Saturday at 10 a.m. CST.
"We're going up against a tough New Mexico State team," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "It was nice to get the first event out of the way, because we were able to shake off the rust and see how the newcomers would react to that type of pressure situation. Now we have to travel and give it our best on the road."
Riding for the Cowgirls in equitation on the flat are seniors Ally Blais and Jen McLaughlin, junior Laura Conley and sophomores Jordan White and Sarah Brown.
Juniors Hannah Beresford and Erin Prutow join Blais, White and Brown in the equitation over fences discipline.
For the western team, seniors Ashley Koch and Suzanne Randolph, juniors Margaux Tucker and Courtney Whitacre and freshman Marissa Dalton will show in horsemanship.
Seniors Rachell Shobe and Leah Keuhn, junior Bri Parnell and sophomores Caroline Daniels and Rachel Houchin will show in reining.
Last time out the Cowgirl hunt seat team topped Southern Methodist 7-3, and the western team defeated Texas Tech 7-1 in a scrimmage last Saturday at Animal Science Arena.
Blais and junior Alice White led the hunt seat team, with White picking up two wins and an MVP in equitation over fences. Blais also earned MVP honors in equitation on the flat.
On the western side, junior Courtney Whitacre came away with the MVP in horsemanship and sophomore Rachel Houchin earned MVP honors in reining.
Last year the Cowgirls defeated the Aggies 16-4 at Animal Science Arena.
