STILLWATER, Okla.-- The Oklahoma State equestrian team (1-1) will host the Baylor Bears (2-0) at the Animal Science Arena Friday at 9 a.m.
"Baylor is number two in the nation in the coaches poll, so we expect them to be a tough team that will make for a good competition," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "After last week there were several things we saw that we needed to work on. The girls have practiced hard this week and we look forward to getting back into the arena."
Riding for the sixth ranked Cowgirls in equitation on the flat are seniors Ally Blais, Jen McLaughlin and Jessica O'Donnell, juniors Laura Conley, Alice White and Jessie Brothers and sophomores Jordan White and Sarah Brown.
Juniors Hannah Beresford and Erin Prutow and freshman Ellie Sparks join Blais, Alice White and Jordan White in the equitation over fences discipline.
For the western team, seniors Ashley Koch-Kennedy and Suzanne Randolph, juniors Margaux Tucker, Lauren Olsen and Courtney Whitacre, sophomores Nichole Chirico and Mamie Tomlin and freshman Marissa Dalton will all show in horsemanship.
Seniors Molly Tipton, Rachell Shobe and Leah Keuhn, junior Bri Parnell, sophomores Caroline Daniels and Rachel Houchin and freshmen Christy McElreath and Taylor New will show in reining.
Last time out the Cowgirl hunt seat team topped New Mexico State after tying the Aggies 5-5 and going to the raw scores for the win. The western team was handed their first loss of the season by the Aggies 6-4. Blais and sophomore Jordan White led the hunt seat team, with White picking up two wins and Blais earning her second MVP on the season. On the western side freshman Marissa Dalton came away with the MVP in horsemanship, the first of her career.
Last year the Cowgirls went head-to-head with Baylor three times, racking up a 2-1 record against the Bears, including a win in the finals of the Big 12 Championship.
