Cowgirl Tennis Member Takes First in UNLV Fall Invitational

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Oklahoma State's Maryna Tkachenko defeated Tanja Hrovatic of Illinois State to earn a first place finish in the flight three finals of the UNLV Fall Invitational.
The senior won in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. In the flight one finals, Cowgirl junior Nataliya Shatkovskaya fell to UNLV's Kristina Nedeltcheva, 6-1, 6-3.
In an additional singles match, JoAnne Karaitiana roared past Natalia Lech of Iowa State with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Karaitiana and Shatkovskaya teamed to beat the Zubkova/Lech Iowa State duo, 8-1.
A Tkachenko/ Galina Semenova tandem fell short against UNLV's Dimitrova/Hidvegi group in an additional doubles match, 8-4.
The Cowgirls will be back in Stillwater this week practicing for the upcoming season.
