Cowgirls Finish Third At Mason Rudolph Women's Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. Oklahoma State's women's golf team wrapped up play on Sunday at the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship with a 295 score to finish in third place at the Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course.
The Cowgirls finished the event with a 54-hole total of 863, 1-under, to fall in seven strokes behind runner-up Southern California's 856. UCLA ran away with the team title after carding a 286 during its final round to finish at 850.
Of the 15 teams in the field at the par-72, 6,262-yard layout, the top three teams on the leaderboard were the only three to finish under par for the event.
The Bruins also produced the individual medalist in Sydnee Michaels, who finished at 11-under 205 after posting a 67 during her final round.
OSU senior Pernilla Lindberg continued the outstanding play displayed during her first two rounds with a closing 71. The Bollnäs, Sweden native broke par in each of her three rounds over the weekend and finished tied for third place at 6-under 210.
The top-five showing was the 13th of Lindberg's career.
During the third round, she turned at 2-under 34 with a bogey-free outward nine that included a pair of birdies. After falling back to level par with bogeys at Nos. 14 and 15, Lindberg birdied the par-5 closing hole to move back under par.
Freshman Caroline Masson bounced back from a 75 during her second round with an even-par 72 to earn a top-20 finish. The Gladbeck, Germany native wrapped up play at 218, tying her for 17th place.
Two strokes back was freshman Caroline Hedwall, who carded a 75 on Sunday to finish at 220 and tied for 21st place.
Senior Karin Kinnerud entered the day at 4-under par, but closed with an 81 to slip into a tie for 23rd at 221.
Sophomore Jaclyn Sweeney closed with a 77 for a 226 total to tie for 48th place.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Oct. 17 when they travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the Stanford Intercollegiate.
