September 20, 2008 | Cowgirl Soccer
STILLWATER, Okla. Â Oklahoma State continued its perfect start to the season with a 4-0 win over Loyola Marymount Friday night at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
Four different Cowgirls scored goals as 13th-ranked OSU improved to 7-0-0 on the season, leaving them three wins shy of the best start in school history.
OSU netted its first goal just 2:27 into the match and outshot the Lions by a 28-4 count as LMU dropped to 3-3-2 on the year.
“We talked about coming out and setting the tone and never letting them get in the game,” said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael. “We did a good job of that. We played really well. Obviously, beating a good team 4-0 is great.
“We jumped on them so early, they were never able to settle in and get in a rhythm. I was very pleased with our overall performance.”
Junior Kasey Langdon got the scoring started for the Cowgirls, weaving through the defense and sending a shot to the far post from 12 yards out to put OSU up 1-0 less than three minutes into the contest.
The Cowgirls took a 2-0 lead into intermission thanks to a Krista Lopez goal in the 33rd minute. Lopez took a pass from Siera Strawser and blasted a shot past LMU goalie Allyssa Clark for her second goal of the season.
In the second half, OSU senior All-American Yolanda Odenyo continued her impressive scoring streak with her sixth goal of the season off an assist from Kyndall Treadwell. The goal marked the sixth-straight game in which Odenyo has scored, tying the school record.
OSU's final score of the night came from Strawser, who recorded her fifth goal of the season in the 69th minute. The goal was the 18th of Strawser's career, tying her for seventh on OSU's all-time list. She also moved into eighth place on the Cowgirls' career scoring list with her 47th point.
Senior goalkeeper Erin Stigler also improved on her OSU all-time leading shutout total with the 17th of her career. She had three saves in the contest.
OSU returns to action Sunday when the Cowgirls host McNeese State at 1:30 p.m.
