Cowgirls Finish Sixth At NCAA Fall Preview

OWINGS MILLS, Md.ÂOklahoma State's women's golf team carded a 296 score during its final round at the NCAA Fall Preview on Monday at Caves Valley Golf Club to finish in sixth place.
Fueled by an impressive debut from freshman Caroline Hedwall, the Cowgirls finished with an 895 total and moved up two spots and finished nine shots behind Alabama for fifth place. Arizona State fired a 2-under 286 team score to move from third place to the top of the leaderboard with an 872 total, putting ASU eight shots clear of the field.
Hedwall started her day tied for fourth place and five shots out of the lead, but moved to the top spot with a 3-under 69. The Lodderopinge, Sweden native carded six birdies on the day, including four on the back nine, en route to claiming medalist honors in her first collegiate event with a 4-under 212 total. Hedwall played her final 36 holes of the event 5-under after closing with a 70 on Sunday afternoon and was one of just three players in the 75-player field to break par at the par-72, 6,216-yard layout.
Senior Pernilla Lindberg moved up six spots and finished in a tie for 26th place at 225 after carding her second consecutive 74, while fellow senior Amanda Johnson tied for 30th place with a 226 total after turning in her second 77 in a row.
A pair of Cowgirls finished among the group tied for 47th place at 234. Senior Karin Kinnerud moved up seven places with a 76, while freshman Caroline Masson closed out her initial collegiate event with a 77.
OSU will resume its fall slate on Sept. 26 when it travels to Franklin, Tenn., for the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship.
