Each week during the cross country season, senior All-American and Big 12 Indoor champion Ryan Vail and freshman German Fernandez will give fans a text message-sized look into their lives with the newest feature on okstate.com, Text Messages From The Cowboys. Sometimes the topic will be cross country, sometimes it won't.

This week's opening installment comes from Vail:

We are all very excited for this coming cross country season as we adjust to classes and 6:00 morning workouts. We've got a great group of returners along with an incredible recruiting class and a key veteran newcomer. Last year we placed third at the NCAA Championships, but this year we will be disappointed with anything less than a national title. I'm in my last year of graduate school and I can't think of a better way to end my career at OSU than by leading the Cowboys to a national championship.
