Pair of Former Cowgirls to Compete in Bejing Olympics

This fall will mark Roche's fourth appearance at the Olympics. She won a bronze medal at both the 1996 Athens Games and the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Games.
A native of Leumeah, New South Wales, Roche was a two-time first-team All-American for OSU in 1992 and 1993. She also led the Cowgirls to the Women's College World Series in both 1990 and 1993.
Bay Regula will be making her second appearance at the Olympics after leading the Canadians to a fifth-place finish at the 2004 Athens Olympics. She was named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Year in 2003 and was also named to the Big 12's 10th Anniversary team in 2006.
A first-team All-American in 2003, the Trail, British Columbia, native owns the school records for both strikeouts in a season (451) and a career (1,151). She also owns the school record with eight career saves.
The Olympic softball games will be played at Fengtai Softball Field in Beijing. Eight teams (Australia, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, the Netherlands, the United States and Venezuela) will compete in a round-robin format beginning on August 12. After seven days of round-robin play, the top-four teams will play in the semifinals on August 20, followed by the Bronze Medal game that evening. The Gold Medal game will be played on August 21.
