Cowgirl Equestrian Signs Six During Spring Period

Oklahoma State's equestrian program added six riders during the spring signing period it has been announced. The new riders include three from each of the Western and Hunt Seat disciplines. Caroline Daniels, Paige Ryan, and Mamie Tomlin will ride in the Western category next season, while Sarah Gesick, Sarah Brown, and Jordan White will compete in the Hunt Seat competition.
Caroline Daniels, a Snowmass Village, Colo., native, will graduate from Aspen High School in May. She was the 2008 Non-Pro Derby Champion for the Western Slope Reining Horse Association in the Limited and Non-Pro Divisions and the Youth Club Champion. Daniels has competed in the NRHA and Arabian Horse Association events. In 2006, her horse, Colorado Cowboy Roy, received the USEF Horse of the Year Platinum award. Daniels reached the top five in the U.S. Arabian Nationals in 2005 and placed eighth in the USEF Youth Finals in Lexington, Kentucky.
She competed in the NRHA Affiliate Finals in 2006 in Oklahoma City and the 2007 Futurity in Oklahoma City. Daniels received the Arabian Region 8 2005 Championship in Reining Seat Equitation and Western Horsemanship. She placed third in the NRHA Mountain Affiliate Finals and was the 2007 Clayton Woolsey Hall of Fame Limited and Intermediate Open Championship.
Apple Valley, Calif., native Paige Ryan received the 2007 APHA Honor Roll in two events and placed second in two events. In 2007, Ryan earned the PTHA unanimous world championship in Novice Youth Trail and placed in the top 10 in Horsemanship and Trail and top five in Western Riding. Paige was the California State Equine Education Challenge Champion and the recipient of the PTHA Orren Mixer scholarship. She is also a member of the Principal's Honor Roll.
Mamie Tomlin is a native of Hernando, Mississippi and was chosen to represent the USA for the AQHA Youth World Cup team held in Ontario this coming July. Tomlin has qualified for the AQHYA World Show in each of the past eight years and has compiled numerous all-around titles and circuit championships. She has earned two AQHA Youth Champion titles and one AQHA Youth Performance Champion Title.
Tomlin has compiled over 700 AQHA points and earned 5 Superiors. Tomlin won the Showmanship at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. She also has multiple top-10 showings at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Hunt Seat Equitation and Hunter under Saddle and Top 5 and Top 10 placings at the AQHYA World Championship Show in Hunt Seat Equitation. She currently serves as a National Director for the American Quarter Horse Youth Association.
Sarah Gesick is from Killingworth, Connecticut and attends from Haddam-Killingworth High School. Gesick has been riding since age 4 and started competing five years later with her main events coming in Equitation and Hunter Seat. She has competed at the Vermont Summer Festival and several Medal Finals. Gesick also competed in the New England Medal Finals and is trained by Sarah Weaver and has also lettered in varsity lacrosse for the past three years. She is the Capitan of the team for her senior season.
Sarah Brown is from Charlottesville, Va., and has been competing at USEF A/AA events since she was 10 years old. Sarah has competed at WEF, Devon, Kentucky, Raleigh, and a majority of Virginia events including Culpeper HITS, Loudon, Upperville, Keswick, Deep Run, and Lexington.
Brown was the 2007 VHSA Children's Medal Champion, qualified for the 2007 VHSA Medal, qualified for 2007 Junior Hunter Finals, earned top ribbons 2007 Tad Coffin Zone 3 Equitation Finals. In 2006, Sarah qualified for USEF Pony Finals on two mounts, earned top placing at Devon and VHSA Children's Medal Finals. In 2005 Sarah competed on the USEF/Adequan Pony Jumper National Championship Team, earned top honors individually, and held the Zone 3 Pony Jumper Champion title for 2005 and 2006.
Brown is a working student at The Barracks in Charlottesville, Va., training with Claiborne Bishop and Maria Shannon. She will graduate from Monticello High School as an honor roll student and as a member of the National Honor Society and the National English Honor Society.
Jordan White hails from Spring Hill, Kan., and will graduate from Spring Hill High School this May. An accomplished student and rider, Jordan has many honors to her credit. Early in her career, White showed extensively on the AQHA circuit, specializing in the hunt seat events. From 2004-2006 she earned several awards, including a Youth World Championship in Jumping in 2006, a Youth Reserve World Championship in Jumping in 2004, top ten finishes at the AQHYA World Championship show in Equitation Over Fences, Qualifier for the AQHA World Show in Working Hunter, Youth Performance Register of Merit in 2004 and various High Point honors.
White has also made her mark within the United States Equestrian Federation. She has earned numerous awards and has qualified for many of the major equitation finals, including USEF Medal Finals in Harrisburg and the Maclay Medal Finals in Syracuse, NY. She has shown all over the United States, including The Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida, Chicago, Estes Park, and the American Royal in Kansas City.
