The Moore, Okla., native led the team in batting this season, hitting at a .344 clip. She became the first freshman since 1995 to lead the squad in batting, and had the highest average by a rookie since the 2000 season. Hamilton tied the school record for runs scored by a freshman, leading the team with her 33 runs scored.
Hamilton started all 51 games this season at second base and was also named All-Big 12 second team by the Big 12 Conference. She was second on the squad with her 29 runs batted in. She was also second in slugging percentage (.461) and on-base percentage (.417). She finished the season with seven doubles, a triple and three home runs. She struck out just seven times in 178 plate appearances.
Hamilton and the Cowgirls finished the season with a 26-25 record and a 9-9 mark in league play, finishing fourth in the Big 12 Conference. With six of the nine starters in the lineup being newcomers, OSU's six-win improvement on its 3-15 record in conference games from a year ago was the biggest improvement of any team in the league.
