OSU Track and Field Honored For Classroom Success

STILLWATER, Okla. Â The Big 12 announced its men's and women's track and field academic all-conference teams today and Oklahoma State was represented by seven first-team student-athletes on the men's side and 11 first-team and two second-team student-athletes on the women's side.
Cowboys to receive the academic honor include Matt Barnes-Smith (master's in economics), Brian Ehlis (master's in quantitative financial economics), Brian Gosnell (biology/pre-med), David Jankowski (double-major in psychology and journalism), Terry Josserand (master's in business administration), Alejandro Ruiz (double major in Spanish and international business) and Ryan Vail (master's in international studies).
As for the Cowgirl women, Kim Blomkvist (education), Baiba Blumbaha (international business), Brandi Broaddus (zoology: pre-pharmacy), Deleanor Kirkpatrick (nutrition and exercise), Brittany Mason (elementary education), Alina Roman (master's in international studies), Eva Tomankova (international business), Fey Bashorun (education), Merritt Dietz (education), Mateja Posavec (management) and Maria Trejo (dietetics and exercise) all earned spots on the first team, with Julie Rader (apparel design and production) and Tihana Sarac (international business) both on the second team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
