Cowgirl Golf Advances To NCAA Championship With Fifth-Place Finish

Oklahoma State's women's golf team advanced to its eighth consecutive NCAA Championship after tying for fifth place at the NCAA West Regional at Lincoln Hills Golf Club.
The Cowgirls finished with a 54-hole total of 882, 18-over par, after carding a 296 during Saturday's final round. OSU shared the No. 5 spot with Arkansas and came in two shots behind Arizona for fourth place. Top-ranked Southern California finished 15 shots clear of the field after posting a 284 for a 9-under 855 total to take the team title.
Individually, a pair of players shared medalist honors as UNLV's Therese Koelbaek and Arizona's Alison Walshe both finished at 6-under 210.
OSU freshman Jaclyn Sweeney continued her impressive spring, running her streak of consecutive top-10 finishes to four. Riding the momentum of her first career victory at the Big 12 Championship, Sweeney fired her second consecutive 72 to finish at 213 and alone in fifth place.
Junior Pernilla Lindberg carded the squad's low round of the day with a 71 that included a 3-under 33 on her front nine. The Bollnäs, Sweden native finished in sole possession of 16th place at 219.
Junior Amanda Johnson posted her low round of the event with a 74 to finish among the group tied for 56th at 228. Also in the group tied at 12-over as senior Tammy Clelland, who posted a 79 on the day.
Junior Karin Kinnerud carded a 79 as well to finish at 235 and tied for 19th place.
The Cowgirls will now move on to the NCAA Championship at the University of New Mexico's Championship Course May 20-23.
