Five Cowgirl Softballers Garner Big 12 Conference Accolades
May 10, 2008 | Cowgirl Softball
It was Kaye's second honor as she was also named All-Big 12 second team as a sophomore in 2006. Both Hamilton and Gearhart are freshmen, just the eighth and ninth rookies to be named either first- or second-team All-Big 12 in school history and the first pair of freshmen to make either squad since 2004.
In the classroom, three Cowgirls were named Academic All-Big 12. Sophomore Megan Castle, along with seniors Meghan Wagner and Kim Kaye, were all named to the first team. Castle is majoring in nutritional sciences-allied health, while Wagner is majoring in physical education and Kaye is majoring in psychology. It was the second such honor for Kaye as she was named first-team Academic All-Big 12 as a junior.
Oklahoma State faces the Texas Longhorns on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship at Don E. Porter/ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
