“I always tell our girls that since we play in Oklahoma, they have to be ready for any kind of weather  hot, cold, windy, or whatever,” said Cowgirl head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “The conditions were very poor today with the strong winds blowing through here all afternoon, but our girls battled hard and got another win. That is what is important.
The Cowgirls started the day off strong as they swept through doubles play. OSU freshmen Jo-Anne Karaitiana and Sasha Belova were tough once again, as they won, 8-1, at No. 1. Cowgirl seniors Iryna Tkachenko and Yawna Allen picked up an 8-2 win at No. 2, and Maryna Tkachenko and Jessica Collins won, 8-3, at No. 3.
In singles play, Iryna Tkachenko picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mallory Weber at No. 1 to push OSU's lead to 2-0, but losses at No. 5 and No. 6 evened the match at 2-2. Belova then secured a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 4, and with the match at 3-2 in favor of the Cowgirls, senior Yawna Allen defeated Jessica Giuggiolo, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 2 to clinch the match for OSU. Karaitiana's win over Chrissy Svetlic at No. 4 made the final score, 5-2.
