Cowgirl Golf Finishes Seventh At Ping/ASU Invitational

Oklahoma State's women's golf team maintained its position in the team standings through Sunday's final round at the Ping/ASU Invitational, finishing in seventh place at Karsten Golf Course.
The Cowgirls, who stood in seventh place through 36 holes, posted a 296 score to finish with a 54-hole total of 887, 23-over. OSU came in five shots off the pace of sixth-place Denver and 13 shots ahead of California. Southern California laid claim to the team title, cruising to a 10-under 854 total to finish 11 shots clear of tournament host Arizona State.
USC's Dewi Claire Schreefel captured top individual honors after posting a 72 to tie ASU's Anna Nordqvist at 7-under 209. Schreefel then won the two-way playoff with a par on No. 18.
OSU freshman Jaclyn Sweeney earned her third top 10 in just five career starts after firing a 1-under 71. The Andover, Mass., native finished alone in seventh at 216. Sweeney recorded six consecutive pars to start her day before posting birdies on Nos. 7 and 8 to make the turn with a 2-under 33. She then followed a bogey on her 10th hole with a string of eight pars to close out the day with her low round of the tournament.
Junior Pernilla Lindberg also found her way into the top 10, tying for eighth place. The Bollnäs, Sweden native posted the squad's low round of the day with a 2-under 70 to finish at 1-over 217.
Fellow junior Karin Kinnerud finished with an 80 on Sunday for a 227 total, tying her for 46th place, while senior Tammy Clelland tied for 56th place after carding a 78 for a 230 total.
Junior Amanda Johnson rounded out the starting five with a 234 total after posting a 77 to tie for 65th place.
The Cowgirls will continue their spring slate on April 25 when they host the Big 12 Championship at Karsten Creek in Stillwater.
